HomeInstallation Guides

The right method makes the floor.

Whether you're fitting it yourself or briefing a contractor, these guides will help you get it right first time. Every product we ship includes printed install notes too.

Flooring

Before the first plank goes down

Preparation

  • Acclimatise

Leave boards in the room they’ll be fitted in for at least 48 hours. Unopened, flat, away from direct heat. This lets the wood adjust to your room’s temperature and humidity.

  • Subfloor requirements

The subfloor must be dry (moisture content below 12%), flat (no more than 3mm variation over 1 metre), and clean. Sand down any high spots and fill low ones.

  • Layout planning

Herringbone and chevron patterns require a centre-line layout — snap a chalk line down the middle of the room and work outwards. Straight plank can start from any wall.

  • Adhesive or click-lock

Use the recommended adhesive for glue-down products, or follow the click-lock instructions for floating installations. We’ll note which method your product needs on the spec sheet.

Underfloor heating

All our engineered floors are UFH-compatible up to 27°C surface temperature. This covers the vast majority of residential systems.

  • Adhesive only

Floors over underfloor heating must be glued down — not floated. The adhesive ensures consistent heat transfer and prevents boards from moving as they expand and contract.

  • Commission early

Run the underfloor heating for at least 2 weeks before installation. Start at 20°C and increase by 1°C per day until you reach your normal operating temperature. This drives residual moisture out of the screed.

  • After installation

Wait 48 hours after fitting before turning the heating back on. Then increase by 1°C per day until you’re back to normal. Never exceed 27°C at the floor surface.

Acoustic panels

Mounting for maximum hush

Batten-mounted (recommended)

Mount panels on 25mm timber battens for the best acoustic performance. The air gap behind the panel is what gives it that Class A absorption rating. We include batten lengths free with orders of 6 or more panels, pre-cut to your wall dimensions.

Direct-bonded (alternative)

Panels can also be bonded directly to the wall with construction adhesive. It's a simpler install, but the acoustic absorption rating drops without the air gap. Fine for decorative use; less effective for noise reduction.

Fixings

We supply Z-bracket fixings as standard with every panel. These allow you to hang and remove panels without visible fixings on the face. Full fitting instructions are included in every box.
