The right offcut margin is between you and us, not your installer.
Industry rule of thumb is to add 7% to a herringbone order, 8% to a chevron, 5% to a straight plank. This rule of thumb assumes your installer is the one paying for any shortage. We don't love that, so the calculator on every product page does it for you, and we'll ring you if your room shape suggests otherwise.
We also keep a small reserve from each batch for two years, so if you scratch a board badly enough to replace it, the colour will match.
